The Fool is a card from the tarot deck I have been working on. It is card number ‘0’ and it symbolizes new beginnings. The fool is consciousness, it is the protagonist of the story. We are all the fool, the main character of our own personal journey.

There are lots of different symbols and stories depicted inside this picture, but I wanted to explain one symbol in particular; At the bottom right corner you will see a sign post with the words “Ain” and “Da’at” written on it. The signpost symbolises the difference between No Thing and absolute emptiness. In the Kabbalah, Ain means no thing, and Da’at means void/emptiness. “Nothing” does not mean a lack of something, No Thing implies there is a thing somewhere, but that thing isn’t here just yet. It is the very beginning, the number 0. “Da’at” is the void, where there is no Thing at all. Sometimes we just have to appreciate the fact that we are lucky enough to exist and make the most of it. Sometimes instead of wallowing in indecision we just need to take a step forward toward our goals.
