THE SELVES

The Selves serve as living, bodyless vessels of personality and perspective.

The reason for the existence of the Selves is debatable. Every Self is unique and it is said that if they were to all be brought together they would form one great whole, like rays of light that separate as they emanate outwards from the source.

They are masks of consciousness that either form naturally beneath the earth or are created by solitary individuals with unknown intentions.

A created Self is unconscious to the outside world, it’s awareness still attached to its vessel yet still dwelling within the source to which all selves are connected. A created self will only awaken when one seals it to their profile.

The naturally formed Selves enjoy conscious awareness independent of those that live on the ground. These selves are social creatures who form great clusters together, high in the sky.

Occasionally a naturally formed Self will grow tired of living without a body and will fly away from its cluster to merge with a consenting individual.

Each self bares a unique set of attributes that may be merged with the individual who chooses to wear it. When a Self is worn, two become one as the qualities of the individual and the Self combine. Alternatively a Self may simply cover up the natural qualities of one’s personality and sometimes the qualities of the self will entirely overpower that of the individual who wears it, particularly if that individual holds few traits of their own.

Removing a Self is not an easy feat and so one must be certain of their reasons for wearing it. (Read about Mask Boy)
